Howard Edward Sheppler, Jr. 83, and his wife, Addie Helen Scheppler, 84, of Ballentrae at Club Med in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, both passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at their home.
Howard, born in Detroit, Michigan, and Helen, born in Bankston, Alabama, had been residents of Port Saint Lucie for ten years, coming from Stuart, Florida.
Howard honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Prior to their retirement, both worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan for twenty-nine years, and had been married for the last seventeen years.
Both were avid golfers and were active members of Club Med.
They are survived by their children, Karen (Archie) Long of Fife Lake, Michigan, Greg (Sandy) Scheppler of Grosse Point, Michigan, Dan (Kim) Scheppler of Atanta, Georgia, and Ian (Keah) Erin of Akron, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Casey, Archie, Gregory, Eric, Michael, Mitchell, Alexa, and Jaxon.
Howard is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Varriel of Clinton Township, Michigan.
Helen is also survived by her sister, Elene Winkles of Trafford, Alabama.
A Celebration of Their Lives will take place on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Grosse Pointe Farms Pier Park at Morross and Lake Shore, 350 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan 48236 with a reception following
Interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family in Detroit, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions as a memorial be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, South Florida Chapter, 1309 North Flager Drive, Fifth Floor, West Palm Beach, Florida 33401.
