IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert “Alan”
E. Barton
October 18, 1941 – August 15, 2025
Albert "Alan" Barton, age 83, of Hobe Sound, Florida, peacefully passed away on August 15, 2025 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Harper House, Stuart, Florida.
Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, he had been a resident of Hobe Sound, Florida for 16 years, coming from No. Conway, New Hampshire. He graduated from Beverly High School, Class of 1959. He then furthered his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, and the University of New Hampshire. He started his career as a mechanical engineer in the toy industry, working for Hasbro and Mattel. Some of his notable designs were Weebles Wobbles, the G.I. Joe doll, and Charlie's Angels dolls. He later moved on to work in the auto industry at Nissan Technical Center No. America. After retiring from engineering, he went into the house-building business, which was one of his passions. After many years of house building, he became a professional Santa Claus, having the perfect white beard, white hair, physique, and jolly disposition. Every November, he morphed into the role of Santa, which brought tremendous joy to many children and adults. He received this delight as much as he imparted it. When asked if he had ever been told that he looked like Santa, he would reply, with a twinkle in his eye, "I am Santa Claus".
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Susan Hatch Barton, his beloved children, Kimberly Aulson, Matthew Barton, Sam Barton, and his wife Leigh, grandchildren Taylor Aulson, Connor Aulson, and Maggie Aulson, several nieces and nephews, and his pet dog, Miss Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Albert Barton, and brother James Barton.
For those who wish, contributions may be made to Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, 11933 SE Juno Crescent, Hobe Sound, FL 33455, or Treasure Coast Hospice, Mayes Center, 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997

Funeral will be held at Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, 11933 Juno Crescent, Hobe Sound, FL 33455, on September 6, at 10:30 am.
