Albert Ernst was born in Aachen, Germany near the Dutch-Belgian border in December of 1929, the third of 5 children born to Gerhard and Gertrud Ernst.
In the early 1950's, Al applied to emigrate to Canada, Australia and the United States and was accepted first by Canadian Immigration Services. Eventually, Al became a Canadian citizen, but chose to move to Herkimer, NY in 1966 where he became a small business owner.
After selling his business in the early 1980's, he moved to Palm City, FL and eventually bought a home in Hobe Sound.

Al is predeceased by his son John Ernst and survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Inga Ernst,  daughters Elke Kane and Vera Ernst of Clifton Park, NY, step-daughter Roxanne Colona, Chesapeake, VA, grand-daughters Jessica Caccioli, Troy, NY, Jennifer Kane, Selkirk, NY, Samantha Kane, Clifton Park, NY, and Hilary Patterson of Mooresville, NC. Albert is also survived by two great-grandsons, Maceo and Lorenzo Caccioli also of Troy, NY.
