Anyone who met Altagracia González ("Tatica") immediately would be enchanted by her charm and smile.  The first words she would inevitably say – no matter how you looked – was, "Tu eres muy buena moza," (You are very good looking).  She would say this to family members, acquaintances, doctors, nurses, really anyone who she came across during her life.  It was her signature line, but it was also heartfelt and she only said it if she liked you.

Family meant everything to Tatica, stemming perhaps from being the 11 ^th child of a family of 12 children.  She was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she spent the early years of her life.  She graduated from the first high school open to women in the Dominican Republic, the Escuela Normal de Señoritas Salome Ureña .  She met the love of her life, Jose Gonzalez ("Quique") at the Atlas car dealership in Santo Domingo, which explains her long fascination with Cadillacs. She could never pass by a car on the road without saying out loud what make it was; but her eyes usually lit up only when she saw Caddys.  Quique likes to say that he asked Tatica out for a date, but in a video her granddaughter Milena made in 2020 for a school project, Tatica said he was the most handsome (buenmozo) man she had ever seen, and knew she would go out with him.

Quique and Tatica were married in 1954, a beautiful union that lasted more than six decades and which their families have admired for many years.  They moved to New York City in the late 1950's, ultimately bringing their children Esther, Luis and Doris to East Elmhurst, Queens, where Carolina, their youngest daughter, was born.  Anyone who visited their house would be welcomed with delicious meals of moro de habichuelas negras, pastelitos made with Tatica's special dough, Dominican potato salad, and lots of barbecues in the backyard in the summertime.  Tatica loved to have a good time and she was never happier than when she was with her family.  On many of her trips back to the Dominican Republic, she relished throwing birthday parties for local children in Jayabo, Salcedo, where Quique was born and raised.

Tatica and Quique made Port St Lucie, Florida, their home 15 years ago, living next door to Esther and husband Ron, and grandchildren Jason, Ian, Anthony, Joey and Brandon.  She loved when the family grew some more, with Milena, their first granddaughter; with Jason marrying Harper and Anthony marrying Rachel, who brought them the double joy of great granddaughters:  Mallory and Violet -- with one more baby on the way. Her sisters Mercedes Wilson and Elsa Garcia continue to delight the family with wonderful stories about Tatica  to this day.

To the end, she got her most heartfelt wish – to spend her final days in the warm home she had created, surrounded by memories of the life she and Quique had created, the music she loved and the love of her family.

Cualquiera que conociera a Altagracia González, llamada Tatica, inmediatamente quedaría encantado con su picardía y su sonrisa. Lo primero que inevitablemente le decía a cualquiera, sin importar su aspecto, era: "Tu eres muy buena moza". Ella piropeaba de esta manera a sus familiares, a conocidos, a sus médicos, enfermeras, realmente a cualquier persona con la que se encontrara. Era su expresión más característica, y además era sincera. Solo te la soltaba si le caías bien.

La familia era lo más importante para Tatica, quizás por ser la undécima de 12 hijos. Nació en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, donde se crió. Se graduó de la primera escuela secundaria para mujeres en la República Dominicana, la Escuela Normal de Señoritas Salome Ureña. Conoció al amor de su vida, José González, "Quique", en la importadora de automóviles Atlas en Santo Domingo, lo que explica su fascinación de toda la vida por los Cadillacs. Nunca podría pasar junto a un coche en la carretera sin nombrar de qué marca era; pero sus ojos generalmente se iluminaban solo cuando veía un Cadillac. Quique cuenta que él fué quien se acercó a Tatica para salir al cine, pero en un video que su nieta Milena hizo en el 2020 para un proyecto escolar, Tatica dijo que él era el hombre más buen mozo que había visto en su vida, y sabía que saldría con él.

Quique y Tatica se casaron en 1954, una hermosa unión que duró más de seis décadas y que sus familias han admirado durante muchos años. Se mudaron a la ciudad de Nueva York a fines de la década de 1950, y finalmente llevaron a sus hijos Esther, Luis y Doris a East Elmhurst, Queens, donde nació Carolina, su hija menor. Cualquiera que visitara su casa sería recibido con deliciosas comidas como el moro de habichuelas negras, pastelitos hechos con la masa especial de Tatica, ensalada de papa dominicana y muchas parrilladas en el patio trasero en el verano. Tatica y Quique se radicaron en Port St Lucie, Florida, desde hace 15 años, viviendo casa a casa con su hija Esther y su esposo Ron, y sus nietos Jason, Ian, Anthony, Joey y Brandon. Cada vez que crecía la familia era más feliz; con Milena, su primera nieta; Jason se casó con Harper y Anthony se casó con Rachel, y ellos le proporionaron la doble alegría de sus bisnietas: Mallory y Violet, con un bebé más en camino.
