Obituary

Amanda Katherine Breese, 47, died of a heart attack in Stuart, Florida on April 28, 2023.

Amanda was born in Princeton NJ September 29, 1975 to Frank C. (Kim) Breese III and Kay Allen West. She grew up in Yardley PA and graduated from Princeton (NJ) Day School. She attended the University of South Carolina where she became a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and graduated from the University of Vermont.

During the following 25 years, she lived in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands; Boston; New York City; and St. Petersburg, Boca Raton and Stuart, Florida. She worked with her mother in the vintage clothing business.

Amanda had a formidable life force. She was a student of politics and pop culture and never hesitated to express her opinion about either subject (or anything else on her mind). She collected loyal friends in all parts of the country and tried to stay connected to them all. She had four stepsiblings and numerous cousins whom she adored. Her nieces and nephews called her "Hot Tea." She cared deeply about her personal relationships and was known among her friends and relatives as a person they could always count on for support when times were rough. She loved animals (especially lizards), cooking and music. She played the piano and did a mean Janis Joplin impression.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Frank C. Breese, Jr. of Monroe LA, Beth Jones Breese of Abita Springs LA, Judge Harwell L. Allen of Winnfield LA and Elaine and William (Bill) Poe of Winnfield LA, by her stepfather Jeffrey D. West of Stuart FL and by her brother Frank C. (Chad) Breese IV of Yardley PA.

She is survived by her parents Kay Allen West of Stuart FL and Frank C. (Kim) Breese, III and Dr. Kathryn Trimble (Katie) Breese of Jackson MS and stepsiblings Davenport West, IV (Renee) of Center Harbor NH, James Graves Theus, Jr. (Anna) of Alexandria LA, Kathryn Prentiss Theus (John Miller) of Decatur GA and Mary Howell Theus of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles Frederic and Suzanne Breese of Vero Beach FL, Mary Lynn and Dr. David Hopps of Yardley PA and the Rev. Douglas and Marsha Allen of Hot Springs, AR and eleven nieces and nephews and nine first cousins.

A memorial service and celebration of Amanda's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT on June 10, 2023 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart FL followed by a reception for friends and family.
