Obituary

Amanda Kay Johnson was born Amanda Kay Cheek on December 12th, 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia. Her second birth came when she was adopted by Betty June Grizzard (Greer) in March of 1958. But her most important birth occurred during her late teens under the guidance and mentoring of her Grandmother, Ellie Grizzard. Mandy and her adopted family had struggles early on, but God's grace, in large part flowing through Ellie, allowed Mandy and her family to come to know the Lord.
I had the privilege of taking Mandy as my wife and lifelong best friend on March 15, 1980. I adored Mandy from the first time I saw her and adored her more and more every year as I came to know her quiet strength and servant's heart.
My sweet "Miss Mandy" left us to be with her Maker on January 25th. It was far too soon for those of us she left behind, but we celebrate knowing she has a fully healed body, that she is in fellowship with her sister Robin and her beloved Ellie, and that she is tending God's garden now.
In addition to myself, Mandy leaves behind four beautiful children and their spouses; three birth and two foster grandchildren; her mother and step dad; a sister and brother; nieces, nephews, friends who love her, and untold strangers to whom she demonstrated God's love.
Services will be Sunday afternoon at 3:00PM at Covenant Fellowship Baptist Church, 2880 SE Aster Lane, Stuart, FL 34994. In lieu of gifts or flowers, we ask that donations be made to "Covenant Fellowship Making Room".
