Andrew T. Campbell (Drew), 76, of Palm City, Florida, passed away on January 27, 2020 at his home with family by his side.
Born in Yonkers, New York, he had been a resident of Martin County, Florida for 15 years coming from Greenwich, Connecticut in 2004.
Before retiring, Andrew was the general manager of the Fairview Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut and was with the club for over 40 years. His long career with Fairview was an accomplished one. He began working at Fairview at a very young age as a golf caddy and with dedication and a strong work ethic he became General Manager in 1975, he held that position for 29 years until his retirement in 2004. Shortly after moving to Florida he came out of retirement by popular demand and served as interim general manager for several years at the Eastpointe Golf & Racquet Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He and his wife Ruth also fulfilled a lifelong dream of running a Bed and Breakfast, The Inn on California, in downtown Stuart, FL from 2004 – 2011.
He was a member of the Club Management Association of America (CCMA) and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Drew was instrumental in the organization of the annual CCFA Golf & Tennis Tournament each year which was held at Fairview Country Club and helped raise money to support the cause which was close to his heart. He served on the board as President of his association at Whispering Sound and held a C.A.M. license. He enjoyed traveling, the beach, golfing, boating, biking and spending time his 8 grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Ruth A. Campbell of Palm City; his son, Scott Campbell and his wife Lindsay of Bethesda, MD; his daughters, Sharon Serrano and her husband William of Jupiter, FL and Robin Deschapelles and her husband Andrew of Chandler, AZ; his 8 grandchildren, Aly Serrano, Nicholas Serrano, Andie Deschapelles, Elizabeth Deschapelles, Megan Deschapelles, Anya Campbell, Everett Campbell and Cormac Campbell; his sisters, Marge Del Bene of Wappinger's Falls, NY and Sheila Fawley of New Fairfield, CT and his brother, Mike Campbell of Briarcliff Manor, NY; He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Rosemary Campbell; sister, Rosemary D'Aprile and his brother Edward Campbell.
Drew was a husband, dad, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, brother-in-law and mentor to many. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Palm City, where Drew was a member.
