IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrew Anthony
Trotto
June 18, 1931 – January 9, 2022
Andrew Anthony Trotto went to be with the Lord, Our God, in the wee morning hours of January 09, 2022. He was born on June 18, 1931, in Bridgeport, CT to Rose & Andrew Trotto. He was the 6th child in a family of eight - Loretta, Antionette, Augustine (Gus), Angelina (Angie), Josephine, Frank, & Rose Traggianese, now the only family survivor. After spending his formative years in Bridgeport, he joined the US Army to proudly serve his country as a medic during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he returned to Bridgeport, went to work for Sikorsky Aircraft, and remained there for 37-1/2 years until his retirement in 1993.
He met the love of his life, Nancy Slater, in 1955 and they were married on May 11, 1957. They moved to their new home in Ansonia, CT and were joined by a baby boy, Andrew in August of 1958. Along came their daughter Bonnie in April 1960 and their son, Glen, arrived in July of 1966 soon after building a new house in Shelton, CT. As the saying goes - new house, new baby!
Andy was a member of The White Hills Volunteer Fire Dept #5 in Shelton, CT for many years. In the summertime, many of the Volunteer Fire Companies held competition drills and marched in parades around the State of CT along with the Ladies Auxiliary which included his wife, Nancy. Andy proudly marched in the Color Guard, which scored many compliments from the parade crowd. The White Hills Vol. Fire Co. won many, many trophies including "Best Company in the State" twice while he and Nancy were members. They made many friends and had 'the time of their life' before moving to Stuart, FL where they continued to make lifelong friends and have a great life.
Andy liked to play Poker (and other card games), some golf and Bocce, but bowling was his favorite sport. He bowled his entire adult life, throwing many a strike. Of course, he was a big football fan as well (but never divulged his very favorite team). He always rooted for the opposite team Nancy liked! He was devoted to watching the Little League Finals in Williamsport PA every year. He loved watching the kids and rarely missed a game.
Andy also loved to square dance with Nancy and friends and went to many square dance conventions. Their square dance club, "The Sun Cats", were invited to dance at the Florida State convention one year which was a great honor and the intricate dance moves were practiced for a year. Luckily our dear friends shared the same love of dancing, and it was a very fun time in his life. Traveling was a big part of Andy's life, going on many cruises with his wife and friends. He also went to Italy, Greece, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, the National Parks, and nearly every state in the United States.
He is survived and will be missed by his beloved wife, Nancy, of 64-1/2 years, his three loving children, Andy Trotto, Bonnie (George) Keith, Glen Trotto, his grandchildren, AJ (Joanne) Trotto, Emily (Jordan) Magee, Morgan Keith, and two great grandchildren, Rudy Trotto and Aspen Magee, along with several nieces and nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, January 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home on 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart and/or St. Andrew Catholic Church on 2100 SE Cove, Stuart for a Mass at 10:00 AM on January 18, 2022.
His final resting place will be at The South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.
Andy was a quiet man, a gentleman, he loved God, his country, family and friends. He left this earth as quietly as he led his life. He will be missed by many friends and relatives. May peace be with him always.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Treasure Coast Hospice - 5000 NW Dunn Road, Ft. Pierce, FL 34981, or to a charity of your choice.
