IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Angelo M.
"Chickie" Ciccaglione
November 11, 1944 – October 28, 2020
Angelo "Chickie" Ciccaglione, 75, of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2020, surrounded by his family. Angelo was born and grew up in Philadelphia, PA. A lifelong and devout Catholic, he attended St. Monica's Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in 1962. Most recently he served as an usher at St. Patrick's Church in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
The first time Angelo laid eyes on Sandy, a beautiful, young red-head, he was smitten. They soon married and had two children, Darin and Danielle. Angelo and his bride were married for over half a century.
Angelo loved the Phillies and Eagles…and like any loyal fan, was the first to call them all "bums" whenever they slumped. As much as he loved his hometown teams, you quickly learned to never bring up the Dallas Cowboys around him!
He and his son attended many baseball games together. One of Darin's favorite memories is of being with his dad at a Kansas City Royals - NY Yankees game at Yankee Stadium in 1983, when the infamous pine tar incident erupted! A massively fun father-son bonding experience happened that day.
Wildwood, NJ was always a special place for Angelo, where he got into his fair share of mischievous capers with his cousins. Those were some of his favorite childhood memories. As an adult, Angelo would take his young family crabbing off the docks in Wildwood. They'd go home, tanned and hungry, to feast on a pot of Sandy's fabulous crabs and spaghetti.
He worked in different fields over the years, but Angelo was most in his element in the food business. He worked as a deli manager, both Italian and Jewish. His customers would ask for him by name. While he prepared their orders, he and they would solve the world's problems together. They always left with a smile…and maybe also a free slice or two of cold cuts!
After the nest was empty, Angelo and Sandy moved to Jupiter, FL. It was here that he discovered his love of cruising and conquered his fear of flying. The world became his oyster. He and Sandy went on nearly 20 cruises and explored over 20 countries.
Italy was, hands down, his favorite. He and Sandy returned again and again…creating many happy memories sipping limoncello, sitting in piazzas watching and listening to the town elders debate one another in animated Italian, exploring the tiny shops and magnificent cathedrals. In Sicily, Angelo discovered his favorite pizza which he shared with Sandy. He paired it with an icy cold Peroni; Sandy loved it with a glass of vino. And it was only 6 euro!
Angelo was a simple man who loved spending time with his family. He adored his dogs and his "granddoggies". He enjoyed watching classic Westerns, reading the newspaper and listening to Sinatra on a Sunday afternoon while Sandy cooked up a batch of Sunday gravy.
Ever the optimist, he played the Florida lottery faithfully. Part of his daily routine was to go to Publix and scan his lotto tickets. His kids knew, for sure, they'd hit the Dad Lottery.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Ciccaglione; children Darin Ciccaglione and Danielle Ciccaglione; brother in law, Mark Wolfinger; cousins; nieces; nephews and fur babies, Kiki and Lucca. He was preceded in death by his parents, Diomedi (Leo) and Rosalie (Fella) Ciccaglione and brother, Darryl Ciccaglione.
Angelo was a good man with a good heart and he will be missed by all who knew him…Sandy, Darin and Danielle most of all. He lives on through them…because to live on in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die." Rest easy, Angelo, in eternal and blissful peace alongside the Lord. This is not a goodbye, but rather "until we meet again."
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, FL. A memorial service will be held in Philadelphia, PA at a later date.
