Anthony Rodney Earl King Sr, (better known as Tony King), 64 years old of Saint Vincent and the
Grenadines, died at the home of his eldest daughter, Toni Nickole Howard, on Monday, September 18th,
2017 at 5:02am. He was born on April 6th, 1953 to Milton and Sylvia King of St. Vincent and the
Grenadines.
Surviving are his faithful wife Cherie King of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 2 loving daughters; Toni Nickole
Howard (Son-in-law Roderick Howard I) of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and Roxanne Melissa King of Fort
Lauderdale , 2 wonderful sons Anthony Rodney Earl King Jr (daughter-in-law Emeline) of Fort
Lauderdale, Florida and Tyrone King (daughter-in-law Marie) of Winter Haven,Florida.
Left to mourn are his two sisters; Gloria McLeod (Brother-in-law Norman McLeod) of Ontario, Canada
and Dahlia Jackson (Brother-in-law Kent Jackson) of Coral Springs, Florida, and two brothers Andre King
(Sister-in-law Karen "Kay") of Coral Springs, Florida and Steven King of Saint Vincent and the
Grenadines; grandchildren listed from oldest to youngest (Roderick Howard II, Jamir Howard, Jamal
Howard, Kiara King, Xzavier Cintron, Marcus Nowell, Anthony King III, Antonio King, Alexis King and
Malia King, great grandson Javeonne La'shawn Taylor, and a host of other family that includes; aunts,
uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
His father Milton, mother Sylvia and brother Ashley King preceded him in death.
He attended Petersville Elementary School and Bishop College Secondary School in St. Vincent. His first
job was as a clerk at Connell's Paint Shop in St. Vincent. He also assisted his Dad (who was a butcher)
at their family owned business as a teenager.
Tony left St. Vincent in the early 1970s working on a ship with his brother Steven before migrating to
Florida. There he met and married his wife Cherie and started his family. He also paved the way for two
of his siblings to become citizens of the USA. He helped and entertained many family and friends who
visited the Ft. Lauderdale area.
He made a living by repairing and building boats in Florida for many years. In the 1980s, Tony initially
started a Night Club named Wind Jammer in Ft. Lauderdale which he enjoyed very much. He felt
tremendously blessed in building a life and family in U.S., where he took pride in maintaining his home
and lawn. He definitely enjoyed his share of ice cream, but most "sweets" would suffice(LOL).
Several years ago, Tony returned to St. Vincent to reside in their family home where he was very happy
and finally able to retire. He passed time working on Word Search and/or Fill-It-In Puzzles, listening to
the radio for the local and world news and music (which has always been close to his heart), he would
watch a few sitcoms in syndication(Sanford and Son, Golden Girls, I Love Lucy to name few) because
laughter was important. His biggest accomplishment, in his opinion, was his family (immediate and
extended) and his ability to retire and return to Saint Vincent where he lived modestly, while enjoying the
time visiting his Aunt every Saturday and walking an hour uphill (by choice) to visit his brother Steve. He
looked forward to "chatting it up with his neighbors/family, and he looked forward to several visits a year,
in which his brother Andre (and family) would join him in their childhood home.
The wisdom that he instilled into his loved ones was well received and appreciated. Few points he
stressed and wanted everyone to know; Without God we are nothing, prayer does work, money is not
everything, hold no grudges and make peace.... show love to all and do everything from your heart
expecting nothing in return.
