Anthony(Tony)Martin went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2017.A dedicated family man, the 89-year-oldwas deeply committed to being present for his family at any event and cherished his marriage of61 years to his wife,Angie.He lived in Palm City for 18 years, relocating from Hollywood, Florida and was originally from New York City and Long Island.

Tony was born inNew York City, NY.He is the son ofPeter and Margaret Schwartz.He diedpeacefully under the wonderful care of hospicewith his nephew and niece, Bruce and Eileen Derby, by his side. The night before his passing, Bruce and his son, Brian, kept vigil at Tony's bedside.

Tony was a Korean War veteran.His love of the military was shown every day with the flag pin he wore on his lapel. Hefondly regaled his many Army memories to his family and friends, showing what an impact his military service had on his life.

Tony's love for his nieces and nephews was apparent, never missing a game, dance performance or graduation ceremony. He loved playing boardgames (especially Battleship), watching cartoons and swimming in the ocean for endless hours with them. Anthony was tireless in hislove and devotion for them.Vacations and holidays with his family held many happy memories for him. He was affectionately known as "Unkie" to his family.

Tony was the first in his family to attend college. He graduated in1952from New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire with a Bachelorof Sciencedegreein Business Administration. He retired in 1996 from the State of Florida Department of Revenue as a tax auditor.

He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football. He played sports in college,includinglacrosse, earninga varsityinsigniain 1951.He continued to play on a softball league as an adult. Tony was very fond of jogging and continued doing that daily well into his 80's. He famous slogan was "Keep moving!"

Tony is survived by his wife, Angie Martin;his nephews, Gary Garafalo, Bruce Derby, Brian Derbyandgreat-great nephew, Luke Anthony Derby; his nieces, Ellen Garafalo, Gina Garafalo-Levine,EileenDerby,DianneDerby;andgreat-great nieces,Claire Derby and Emma Derby.

He is predeceased in death by his sister, Ruth Derby, his brother-in-law, GeorgeDerby,hisparents,Peter and Margaret Schwartz, and his brother, Patrick McNulty.

His service will beonThursday, April 27that10:00a.m.atHoly Redeemer Catholic Church,1454 SW Mapp Road, Palm City, FL 34990. He will be interred with military honors at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth Floridaat 1:00pm.

Three words that would sum upTony and his attitude for life were, Family, Strength and Laughter.
