Anatol "Tony" Shabotynskyj, 70, of Palm City, Florida rocketed out of this world on Saturday, August 11 ^th at 3:30 AM following a brief illness. Tony was born November 10, 1947 in a World War II Polish Military compound in Bomlitz, Germany. He was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Halyna, war refugees of Ukrainian heritage. The Lutheran Church sponsored the family to emigrate to the United States and they settled in Geneva, New York.

Drafted into the Army to fight in Vietnam, Tony served one year as an 82nd Airborne combat infantry soldier during an intense period of the conflict. He earned many medals and commendations for his heroic service, including the Air Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star. After surviving the jungles of Vietnam, Tony served his country as a Military Police Officer at Continental Army Headquarters in Fort Monroe, Virginia until he completed his commitment. While serving in Vietnam, Tony received orders to travel to Guam and became a naturalized US Citizen. Taking advantage of the GI Bill, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Rochester Institute of Technology.

After a several years as an entrepreneur, back in his hometown of Elmira, Tony decided to set out on an adventure. One adventure led to another; sailing a classic wooden boat from Watkins Glen, NY to Florida; living in an 1892 lighthouse on Andros Island, Bahamas and learning to fly single engine planes. He proudly flew his own Mooney M-2 C for over 20 years and passed his love of flying down to his son Eric.

A highlight of his career was working for RCA and GE in facilities management at the US Navy's Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) on Andros. He was a pioneer in the Computer business starting SBS Computers in Delray Beach in 1990.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Kathy, son Eric, and his spoiled canines Hans (7) and June (6) Palm City. Left to cherish his memory are his sister Diane Coughlin (Cape Coral) and his brother John (Charleston, SC), his godson Robert Johnson (Orlando), numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, The Ukraine and USA.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 18th. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Tony's memory to help Can Do Multiple Sclerosis educational wellness research: MS -GLOBAL
