Arthur "Dusty" J. Anderson, 74 of Forked River, New Jersey and Stuart, Florida, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (nee Werre) Anderson Arter, and doting step-father Harold Arter. Dusty, as he was affectionately known, was a snowbird with his wife, spending winters in Florida.
A Plumber by trade, he was a member of the Plumber's Union, Local 68 in Houston, Texas, and the Pasadena Masonic Lodge #1155 in Pasadena, Texas. Dusty also served his country as a member of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Lexington.
He enjoyed boating and fishing but never caught a Snook. Grandson Shane DeLeo landed the first and only Snook in the boat, and loved Grandson Zach Ward's "BOOM BOOM" music. Dusty also enjoyed playing Words with Friends, and Crazy Marbles game at Riverland in Stuart, story and joke telling for hours. He also loved to do computer research.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 35 years, Sharon A. Anderson of Forked River and Stuart; two sons, John Anderson and his wife, Katherine of Flower Mound, Texas, and Bradley W. Anderson and husband, Jhakees Napolitano of Houston, Texas; two step-daughters, Dawn M. Smith of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey and her partner, Nelson Hartranft of Bayville, New Jersey, and Carrie A. Ward of Forked River; one step-son, John M. DeLeo and wife, Elise of Collins, New York; his grandchildren, Arie, Corey, Bailey all of Dallas Texas, Bradley Anderson of Houston Texas, and Kevin Smith of Lanoka Harbor, Ashley Smith of Bamber Lake, New Jersey, Joshua Pettygrove and partner, Lisa Kewley of Collins, New York, Michael J. DeLeo of Columbia, South Carolina, and Shane DeLeo, of Collins, New York.
Dusty is also survived by two step-granddaughters, Kristen Mannino and husband, Frank of Wrightstown, New Jersey, and Lauren Richardson and husband, Jeff of Bordentown, New Jersey; and step-grandson, Zachary Ward, of Forked River; two great-grandsons, Lorenzo and Angelo Mannino of Wrightstown; two great-granddaughters, Navaha Rose and Riley Rae, Pettygrove of Collins, New York; his cousins, Gale Gargiulo of Lavallette, New Jersey, James Piltzecker of Ocean Gate, New Jersey, Jill Anne Ramos and husband, Marvin of Oakhurst, New Jersey and their son, Kingston Ramos of Oakhurst; and his longtime friends, Kerry Field and wife, Sandra of Pasadena, Texas, and James Smith of Bayville, New Jersey.
Contributions as a memorial may be made to the Disabled American Veterans in Ohio, Wetworks in Forked River, New Jersey or the Lacey Food Bank in Forked River, New Jersey.
