The Rev. Arthur James "Jim" Spencer, Jr. of Eaglewood in Hobe Sound, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart. He was 89 years old.
Son of the late Arthur J. and Mildred Spencer, he was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
Jim Graduated from Adelphi College and the George Mercer School of Theology in Garden City, New York, and was ordained in 1988. He and his wife, Allison served at Saint Monica's Episcopal Church in Stuart, Florida, for twenty years and retired at the end of last year.
He is survived by his wife, Allison; three daughters, Kathleen Spencer, Susan Tong and her husband, Boyd, and Nancy Wirth and her husband Tom; his sister, Jane Herrmann; three grandchildren, Thomas and Ginger Wirth, and Dorothy L. Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Kittridge
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:30 am in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 400 Seabrook Road, Tequesta, Florida 33469 (561-746-4674), with a Luncheon Reception following at the Eaglewood Country Club, 8500 SE Eaglewood Way, Hobe Sound.
In lieu of flowers, contributions as a memorial may be made to the Council on Aging of Martin County, Meals on Wheels Program, 900 SE Salerno Road, Stuart, Florida 23997-6405 or to a Charity of the Donor's choice.
