Obituary

Audrey Harriet Shafto, 91 of Jensen Beach, Florida passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at her home.

She was born June 4, 1927 in Avon, New Jersey and was the daughter of Ragnar and Grace Hansen.   She has resided in Jensen Beach permanently since 2001 coming from Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey.

Audrey attended the Traphagen School of Art and Fashion in New York and went on to teach sewing in Asbury Park for Singer Sewing Machine Company.  She was an accomplished dress maker.

Audrey and her husband spent time with their children camping.  She is remembered by her daughter as being a great cook.  Audrey also enjoyed golf, tennis and snow skiing when the opportunity was available.  Her hobbies also included a love for gardening.

She was a wonderful homemaker to her husband and children and a gracious hostess to company who visited.

Audrey and her husband liked Western Style Square Dancing and helped establish clubs for dancing.  They started out hosting dance lessons in their basement in Spring Lake Heights.

Audrey was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart and a former member of Eastern Star.

Audrey is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Bill Shafto; loving daughter, Pamela Klotz and husband, Mark; cherished granddaughter Kimberly Smith and husband, Reed Wortley; great grandchildren, Evan Wortley, Olivia Wortley and Quinn Wortley;  and sister-in-law, Betty Hansen.

She was preceded in death by her son, James William Shafto and brother, Robert Hansen.

In lieu of flowers, those who are considering a memorial in Audrey's memory are asked to consider donations to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 623 SE Ocean Blvd., Stuart, FL 34994.

Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, a fellowship will follow on the church grounds.

Arrangements under the direction of Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Stuart, Florida.
