IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara D.
Duryee
October 7, 1933 – January 20, 2022
Barbara D. Duryee, 88, formerly of Oakland NJ, Clayton NY and currently of Stuart, FL passed away on January 20, 2022.
She was born on October 7, 1933 in Dumont NJ, daughter of William and Mildred (Leifer) Koenig. She graduated from Teaneck (NJ) High School.
She married George Duryee on April 27, 1975 at the Reformed Church in Ridgefield, NJ.
Mrs. Duryee worked for many years in retail, co-owning a woman's dress shop, The Barbara-Ley Shop, with her sister Shirley. Upon moving to Florida, she and George worked for florist and interior decorator Bill Beers at the Everglades Club in Palm Beach. In the summers, she lived in Clayton, NY and worked in the Captain Johnson and Antique Boat Museum's gift shops. Barbara's love for flowers, fashion and accessorizing is what prompted her to begin her own floral design business. All of her clients loved her and the beautiful designs she created. She also was dedicated to her church, the First Church of Christ Scientist in Teaneck and Ridgewood, NJ and Stuart, FL. She was a First reader, usher, board member and enjoyed volunteering in the churches' Reading Room. In Stuart, she was an active member of the Kingswood Women's Club, helping to plan and coordinate monthly events and her favorite, the Annual Trash and Treasure sale. Most of all Barbara loved being with people and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband George Duryee, and her children Mary Anne (Thomas) Schafer of Rumson NJ; Kenneth (Carol Brander) Kozin of Clayton NY; Renee Duryee of Santa Monica CA; grandsons Thomas Schafer of Red Bank NJ; Kevin Schafer (Christine Salvaggio) of Fair Haven NJ and great grandsons (Owen and August). Her parents, her sister Shirley (Koenig Glock) Wamstad and former husband Sherwood
Kozin, died before her.
