Obituary

Barbara Louise Larrabee, 87, of Jensen Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 11, 2025 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Lynch Pavilion in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Barbara was born June 14, 1937 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, the daughter of James and Marjorie (Teel) Gregor and grew up in Braintree, MA with her parents and two older brothers, Douglas and Richard.

Barbara had several jobs while raising her children. Among them was working part time as bookkeeper at Fredrickson Bros. in Norwell, MA. She continued working in credit and collections for several companies up to her retirement in 1999. After retiring Barbara and her husband Paul Larrabee retired to Chatham, MA where they took up second careers as commercial clammers in the summer and spent winters in Jensen Beach, FL relaxing and enjoying life.

Barbara enjoyed the thrill of learning a new skill or craft and had many interests and hobbies throughout the years which she shared with friends and family. She was an avid and accomplished candlepin bowler belonging to a women's league for many years. Boating and snow skiing were among her varied interests. Barbara was blessed with a green thumb and any place Barbara made home was soon sprouting with shrubs, flowers and vegetables. She had a passion for the sea which she never wanted to be too far from. Many summers were spent at her beach cottage on Saquish in Plymouth, MA boating, fishing, clamming and enjoying the company of friends and family. Of all her interests her favorite was long walks especially along the ocean's shorelines collecting shells, sea glass and other oddities that washed up.

Barbara is survived by her husband Paul and five children; Sandra Spaulding Parker, Ronald Spaulding, Alan Fredrickson, Marjorie Roche and Heidi Newhall, and their spouses. She also leaves nine grandchildren; Kristen and James Spaulding, Jessica (Spaulding) Parziale, Derek and David Newhall, Brett and Andrea Roche, Erik and Anna Fredrickson and six great grandchildren; Claudia Sass, Charlie Spaulding, Charlie and Maya Newhall, Anthony and Shawn Parziale as well as three nephews and one niece. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sister in laws.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be announced at a later date.
