Barry S. Bunting, 89, of Crestwood, Missouri, and Port Saint Lucie, Florida, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Born in Los Angeles, California, he had been a winter resident of South Hutchinson Island, and most recently of Port Saint Lucie for many years.
Barry served for over forty-one years in the United States Coast Guard, stationed for some time, on the US Coast Guard Cutter Bibb. His career beginning with World War II, and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He received numerous medals and awards, including the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Free Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Moose, Elk, VFW, American Legion, and past president and board member of RAC Credit Union in Missouri, for 30 years.
Locally he was a member of the Saint Andrew Lutheran Church in Port Saint Lucie, where he was active in their Community Kitchen, as well as a member of the Port Saint Lucie Moose Lodge #513, and the Saint Lucie Shrine Club in Fort Pierce, Florida.
He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Bunting (nee Johnson), who passed away in 2006, the dear father of the late Patricia, and grandfather of the late Nick Meyer.
He is survived by his son, Barry "Skip" Bunting ,Jr. , and his wife, Debbie; one step-son, Ronald Perisho, and his wife, Denise; one step-daughter, Sandra Bullock , and her husband , Larry; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2015 from 3- 8 pm at the Kutis Funeral Home / Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Road, Saint Louis, Missouri. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 18th, at 10 am in the Kutis Funeral Home / Affton Chapel, with interment next to his beloved Evelyn, following at the Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Saint Ann, Missouri.
