Bart Vaughn Darress Jr., born October 3, 1938, age 77 of Stuart, Florida passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Treasure Coast Hospice.
He was the son of Bart and Margaret Darress who proceded him in death. Bart is survived by his wife Shona of 28 years, daughters Eloise Gore, Shari Khakham and husband Alex, son Mark Darress, stepdaughters Tamara Steele and husband Randy and Samina Gimblett. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Darress and Todd and Leila Darress and grandchildren: Tyler, Quinn, Caeley, Alia, Hunter and Riley. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Bart was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
Bart has had many careers from an assistant maintenance foreman for PAN AM, flight engineer for Flying Tigers, fireman, hook and ladder drill team for Bayshore Fire Dept. in Long Island, New York and many years in the oil fields, starting as a rough neck and working his way up to one of two hundred and fifty senior directional drillers in the world, working all over Southeast Asia and other parts of the world and finally retiring just three years ago from the Bakken Field in North Dakota.
Bart was creative and enjoyed wide ranging interests, riding his Harley, playing golf, racing his remote controlled watercrafts, sailing, being a licensed pilot, deep sea fishing, wood craftsmanship, watching football, traveling world-wide and always making jokes and stories that kept people laughing.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the
Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, from 4pm - 7pm.
