Bartley A. Fugler, resident of Palm City passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013. Born January 29, 1922, he grew up and attended school in Washington, DC. He graduated from American University, studied law at George Washington University and graduated from the National War College in Washington, DC. Bart retired from the Navy as a naval aviator in World War Il. As a career Federal Government employee, one of his assignments included Special Secret Service agent to President Harry S. Truman. He retired as Inspector General of NASA. Bart was an accomplished basketball and baseball player. He was elected to the American University Hall of Fame. Bart loved golf and was long time member of the Washington Golf and Country Club, Arlington, VA, Vineyards Country Club, Naples, FL and Quail Ridge Country Club, Boynton Beach, FL. Survivors include his wife Verina Jordan-Fugler of Palm City, his son Bartley C. Fugler, of Henderson, NV, and a sister Kathryn Messenger of Front Royal, VA. Bart will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice (1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997).
