Bernice Smith, 100, of Hobe Sound, Florida passed away on October 26, 2022. Bernice was born in White Springs, Florida on December 25, 1921, to the late Esko and Lula Mae (Parrish) Haddocks. She was preceded in death by her first husband Charlie Martin, her late husband of 41 years Louie Smith, her sons David Martin and Johnathan Martin Sr. and her sisters Gladys, Vera and Louise.

Following the footsteps of "the Faithful Witness" Jesus Christ, Bernice symbolized her dedication to her Heavenly Father, Jehovah God, by water baptism in 1969. She was a member of the Hobe Sound Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and a wonderful example of faith for her family and friends. At just 8 years old, she took on the responsibility of caring for her ailing mother. She showed this self sacrificing spirt later by the way she cared for her family, her friends and anyone in need. She was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a private laundry service as well
as a home childcare service. Bernice loved God's creation and was blessed with a "green thumb." Whatever she planted and watered; God made it grow—even in sugar sand! We look forward to seeing her again in the restored Garden of Paradise!

Bernice is survived by her daughter Charlene Jackson (Arthur) of Palm City Fl, her son Charles Martin (Yvonne) of Miami, Fl, her Granddaughters Lori,
Ytwanda, Lavonia, Sharlene, Michele, Ebony, Angela, Maria, and Anita. Her grandsons, Johnathan, Michael, Christopher, Arthur, Kenny, and Anthony.
A host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, her God son, Walter Thomas and other sorrowing relatives.
