Obituary

Betty Ann Hoge passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 5, 2020 with her children and husband at her bedside. She was born May 2, 1946 in Tralee, West Virginia, the third of four children to Nellie and Howard Taylor. At the age of six, her family moved to Mullens, West Virginia where she grew up and met her future husband, Jerry Hoge. High school sweethearts, they eloped in 1965, 6 months before Jerry graduated from college.  After Jerry's college graduation in 1966 they moved to Hampton, Virginia, where they began their family. Over the next 24 years, Jerry's work in the nuclear power industry took them to several locations in Ohio, Indiana and Alabama, and but they finally settled in Palm City, Florida in 1990. They designed and built their present house together in which they have resided for the last 28 years.  Betty worked in the cash office at Walmart in Stuart, Florida retired in 2016 after 15 years of service.

Betty was an amazing cook, a loving mother, and a kind and thoughtful friend to everybody she met. She loved decorating for all holidays and never missed a friend's or family's member's birthday. Betty spent her entire life giving to others, and certainly has now earned her eternal rest.  Betty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry;  her first daughter, Angela Kolb of Lighthouse Point, Florida;  her second daughter, Marian Hoge of Palm City, Florida; and  two grandchildren: Ryan Kolb and Mason Kolb.

She was predeceased in death by her parents Howard and Nellie Taylor and her three siblings: Mary Jane McNaughton, Peggy Taylor, and James (Jimbo) Taylor.

Betty will be cremated and the interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Princeton, West Virginia in a private service at a later date.  A virtual Celebration of Life is being planned for a later time after the holidays.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.org).   Betty would appreciate that since she was an avid supporter of the JDRF for many years.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
