IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty G.
Williams
February 7, 1923 – April 21, 2021
Betty Williams, 98, passed away at her home in Port St Lucie, Fl on April 21, 2021. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. At her request, no service will be held.
Betty was born February 7, 1923 in Wiconisco, Pennsylvania, to Wilhemina and Theodore Gauntt. She
grew up in Burlington, New Jersey where she graduated from Wilbur Watts High School and started her
long career at New Jersey Bell. Her career was very important to her and her success was
evident in the many commendations she received. Once retired, she liked to say she was able
to enjoy retirement longer than she worked.
Betty enjoyed many kinds of travel. Over the years she had vacation homes in Seaside, New Jersey
and Tuckerton, New Jersey. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with their Airstream trailer for many
years. That was how she came across her favorite spot, Nettles Island, Florida. They camped
there and eventually purchased a vacation home there. Later she made it her full time
residence.
Betty loved playing golf, playing cards, crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. She was a great
cook and loved dining out. She enjoyed friends of all ages and generations. Many of her
younger friends and nieces considered her an inspiration. She was a great story and joke teller.
She was one of the sharpest nonagenarians around, continuing to learn new things all of her
life.
Betty was married to Clifford Williams who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by
her sister, Dorothy Ross, her brothers, Theodore and John Gauntt, and her great nephew,
Matthew Simar.
Betty is survived by her nieces and nephews and their families, whom she loved, Jackie
Lockwood, Susan Bean, Janice Ross, Ted Gauntt, Jack Gauntt, Sheila Higgins, Holly Post, and
Jeff Gauntt.
