Robert (Bob) Souza, 83 of Indiantown passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida after a brief illness.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Bob was a resident of Indiantown for 47 years, coming from East Hartford, Connecticut in 1971.

He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Prior to his retirement in 2000, Bob was a sheet metal worker building airplane engines for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and United Technologies for over 30 years.

He also enjoyed working part-time at Indianwood Golf & Country Club for many years as a cart guide and range picker.

Bob's passion was coaching both youth baseball and football. If he wasn't working, he was coaching and/or umpiring. He believed in hard work, dedication, and excellence. He believed that if you could instill that into an athlete at an early age it would help them throughout their life. He was tough, but he created championship teams. After he passed the coaching on to the younger generation, he still worked one on one with our local youth on their pitching mechanics. He was known as Coach Souza to many.

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Souza, of Indiantown; daughter Mary-Ellen Souza of Indiantown; sister Jean Faucher (Joe Ford) of Indiantown; grandson Rob Souza of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter Alicia Freeman of Indiantown; great-grandson Robert Eli Souza of Port St. Lucie and his mom Haley Hardman; sister-in-laws Lorna Souza (Monroe Dalton) of Indiantown, Maureen Coleman (Dudley) of  Missouri and Carolyn Andersen of Indiana; Karen Freeman of Indiantown; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Mary Souza; brother Arthur Souza; sister Margaret Fiew; son Robert Alan Souza; and great-grandson Robert Jay Souza.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Family Worship Center, 15285 SW Indianmound Drive, Indiantown, FL 34956. The service will start at 4PM, with military honors to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Bob Souza's honor to one of the following: The Family Worship Center Youth Group (PO Box 1, Indiantown, FL 34956), the Martin County High School baseball program (2801 South Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL 34994) or the South Fork High School baseball program (10000 SW Bulldog Way, Stuart, FL 34997).
