Bobbie Sue Horton, age 82, of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2021 at her home, with her beloved husband by her side.
Born in Birmingham, AL on July 28, 1938, Bobbie had most recently been a resident of Flemingsburg, KY in the summers and was a winter resident of Hobe Sound, FL. She was previously a resident of Morris, AL and, later, of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Bobbie is survived first and foremost by her beloved, devoted husband of thirty-three years, Walter Julian Horton, whose unwavering captivation and unconditional love and adoration for Bobbie was limitless and unquestionably mutual. Their partnership was overflowing with love and possessed every quality one imagines a truly perfect example of companionship should be. Bobbie and Julian's unity is what every couple hopes and strives for and for them it was entirely effortless. The depth and sincerity of the admiration, affection, reverence, respect, and profound love and joy between Bobbie and Julian is impossible to do justice to with written words and is truly awe-inspiring.
Bobbie and Julian loved to travel and for many years, they ventured throughout North America in their Motorhome and traveled the world together, creating precious memories. They also enjoyed playing golf and tennis together and years ago Bobbie was the president of the Women's Golf Club in their community of Eaglewood in Hobe Sound. She was also an excellent chef and had a passion for cooking. Bobbie enjoyed collecting art, antiques, and unique furnishings. She had an impeccable sense of style and refinement which was reflected in every facet of her life.
Bobbie is also survived by her son Robert F. McAnnally, Jr. and wife, Debra J. McAnnally of Stuart, FL; daughter Tammy L. Martin and husband, Steven Martin of Altamonte Springs, FL; step-son, Julian Ray Horton of Lexington, KY; step-daughter, Debra Jan Sperry and husband, Robert Sperry of Seaside, OR; granddaughter Brandy J. Varone and husband, Patrick Varone of Davie, FL; granddaughter Tiffany A. Shoemake and husband, Elias Shoemake of Fort Lauderdale, FL; granddaughter Christine K. Wager and husband, Judson I. Wager of Graham, NC; granddaughter Jennie Sue Berger and husband, Jeff S. Berger of Cary, NC; grandson Patrick L. Ward, Jr. of Loxahatchee, FL; grandson Robert D. Ward of Deerfield Beach, FL; grandson Nicholas L. Farina and wife, Vickie S. Ly of Portland, OR; granddaughter Julia L. Farina and husband, Jonathan R. Guska of Portland, OR; and granddaughter Laura A. Farina of Grants Pass, OR. Bobbie is also survived by her great-grandchildren Kayla E. Lillie of Davie, FL; Elijah L. Wager of Graham, NC; Sophia I. Wager of Graham, NC; Landon Shoemake of Fort Lauderdale, FL; twins Austin J. and Jonah J. Shoemake of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Patrick L. Ward III of Loxahatchee, FL; and twins Lucas L. and Ethan L. Farina of Portland, OR. Bobby is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews who love her dearly.
Bobbie Sue Horton is remembered and cherished by those who came after her as a genuine and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grace, beauty, sense of humor and unconditional love are only a few of the qualities she bestowed on all her loved ones. She is dearly loved and cherished and will forever be dearly missed.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her identical twin sister, Betty Lou Hurley of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister Doris Neely of Gardendale, AL; sister Margaret Burkhead of Morris, AL; and her mother and father, Polly Ann Wilder and David Lester Wilder of Morris, AL.
Bobbie 's memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home in Stuart, FL. A private viewing for family will begin at 2:00pm, with public viewing for friends beginning at 2:30pm, followed at 3:00pm with the funeral service. A reception for family and friends will follow at the home of Robert and Debra McAnnally in Stuart.
