Obituary

Brad was born the middle child of Jean Frost and Hazel Peer Frost in Sodus, New York on September 26, 1947.  His family lived in Red Creek, then Wolcott and finally in Ontario, New York from the time he was in 4 th grade on.  He was his father's sidekick and was involved in everything his Dad did from fishing, hunting, camping and anything outdoors.  God gave him many of the same gifts as his Father such as working with his hands building things, fixing things and anything mechanical.  His mother was a spiritual giant in his eyes and he received Jesus as his Savior at a young age through his Mother's influence.

When he got to his teen years his interests turned to fast cars and the wild life.  The least of his interests was school and he eventually got invited to leave school at age 17.  But the Marine Corp stepped up invited him to join them if he could get his parents permission.  His parents couldn't sign the papers fast enough and soon he was off to boot camp.  He loved the service and thrived under its training.  However, he developed an undiagnosed medical problem and was discharged after 2 short years.

In 1968 he married his wife, Christine Hyland, on a snowy December winter night and a new chapter of his life started.   Brad worked in pipe line construction in the Rochester area for several years.  He then started building projects in his home town of Fair Haven working with other local craftsmen.  In 1976 he was hired at a brand new, Japanese owned steel mill in Auburn, NY.  He worked his way up from grounds keeper  to maintenance supervisor, a job he loved and stayed with for over 20 years.  In between his work life, he and his wife built two new houses from the ground up.  They then moved on to building a business called Frost Haven Resort which included a B&B, cottages, gas dock, dockage, trout and salmon charter fishing, etc.  They owned and operated that enterprise for 12 years and then sold the business. He always loved the building part and soon tired of the project when the building was done.

After selling the business at age 49, they turned the page to start a new chapter.  They purchased a motor home and decided to sell everything that didn't fit in the motor home to live full time on the road.  They worked part time at various jobs on the road  and traveled extensively including Alaska, up and down the West Coast and back and forth across the country stopping to hike as many trails they could and checking out anything that caught their interest.  The memories and experiences they had were plentiful and were enough to last a lifetime.

Then in late 2004, his Mom called and needed help caring for his Dad who was declining in health.  So they came in off the road to Stuart where they assisted caring for his Dad until his death the next April, 2005.  It became obvious they could not go off again and leave Mom all by herself so the page turned again and started the next new chapter.  They had purchased a lot in a mobile home park nearby the folks a few years previous so they had a place to park the motor home while they decided what to do.  Eventually they put in a new home on the lot, sold the motor home and returned to stationary life, caring for his Mom.

In 2008, Pastor Holland of Community Baptist Church hired him as the part time maintenance man for the church and school.  The job only remained part time for a few weeks and turned into full time work for the next 9 years.  His heart was always so willing to help who ever asked for help. And there always seemed to be plenty of people that needed help over the years.  He loved the teachers and the kids who called him Brother Brad.  If something needed fixing they all knew who to call.

Since his retirement, he continued to build projects in his well equipped garage and shop.  He never lacked for something to do - there was always a project brewing in his head.  He loved to cut steel, weld, create - nothing seemed beyond his talents.

In 2018 his health problems started getting out of hand and he sought extensive treatment at a clinic in Tampa.  The results gave him 3+ more good years in which he continued working and helping his family and others.  On December 9, 2021,  he was diagnosed with lung cancer and a new chapter began.  Over the next 5 months his health continued to decline until the day of his call to go home to Heaven on May 12, 2022.

He predeceases his wife, Christine, of 53 years, 4 months and 13 days of marriage, and in the immediate area, his brother Terry Frost and his sister April Hopkins and his cousin Dennis Swartwood

Most people that met Brad always remember him.   He had some pretty distinct traits and characteristics.  His deep voice, his beautiful mustache, his love of the color purple, his love of eating, his perfectionism and strong opinions, his talents and gifts and his joy in helping others and especially in his later years, his love for the Lord and his desire to live pleasing to God.  He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

I LOOK UP

I look not back:  God knows the fruitless efforts;

The wasted hours, the sinning, the regrets.

I leave them all with Him, who blots the record,

And graciously forgives and then forgets.

I look not forward: God sees the future,

The road, that short or long, will lead me home.

And He will face with me its every trial,

And bear with me the burdens that may come.

I look not around me:  Then fears would assail me,

So wild the tumult of earth's restless seas,

So dark the world, so filled with woe and evil,

So vain the hope of comfort and of ease.

I look for forward:  That would make me wretched,

For I have naught on which to stay my trust.

Nothing I see save failure and shortcomings,

And weak endeavors, crumbling into dust.

But I look up:  Up into the face of Jesus,

For there my heart can rest, my fears are stilled;

And there is joy, and love, and light for darkness,

And perfect peace, and every hope fulfilled.
