It is with great sadness to announce that Retired Sergeant Bruce Onizchak, 63, of the Stuart Police Department, passed away in the early morning of December 22, at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Florida.

He was born June 4, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. Bruce was a loving father who leaves behind his three children; Victor Onizchak, Diana Onizchak, and Leah O'Brien along with his four grandchildren; Logan, Mitchell, Nicholas, and Brycen. He is also survived by his father, Walter Onizchak.  His mother, Marietta Kubit predeceased him.

Sergeant Onizchak was hired on March 19, 1984 and retired on June 30, 2011. During his 27 year career, Bruce served as Detective, Detective Sergeant, Road Patrol Sergeant, and was a long time member of the Special Response Team. After retirement, Bruce had the opportunity to focus on his passions of fishing, boating, and working his ranch until his passing.
