Carey Katherine Tiersch passed away peacefully on October 14 2013 at the Treasure Coast Hospice Residence of Stuart Florida after a courageous battle with cancer. Carey was born in Brockton, MA on August 20, 1953. She grew up in Middleboro, MA and transplanted to Delray Beach Florida in 1972 pursuing a career in public safety eventually becoming a 911 communicator for the Del Trail Fire District. In 1984 Del Trail merged into Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Carey held multiple important positions eventually finding her home as a Fire Safety Specialist where she remained until 2010. Carey was a gifted baker and enjoyed volunteering with the Literacy Council of Martin County. Carey is survived by her loving husband John; brother, Christopher Sullivan; nephew, Christopher Miller; niece, Heather Veztner, many cousins, and her entire Fire Rescue Family. Services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Jupiter/Tequesta at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Treasure Coast Hospice (1201 SE Indian St; Stuart, FL 34997) or Susan G.
