Carol Lee (Holcomb) Prociw, 67, of Stuart, passed away on September 4, 2020.

Carol was born in Warroad, Minnesota and spent much of her life living in various parts of the country: Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, North Dakota, Arizona, Kansas, and finally to her favorite state, Florida. Carol had been a resident of Stuart for 23 years.

Prior to retiring, Carol was a chef for the Hanley Center at Gate Lodge. Throughout her life, she was not afraid of getting her hands dirty or learn new trades. Carol was a substitute teacher while her children where in school. Later she worked as a pharmacy technician before becoming a chef for the Hanley Center at Gate Lodge, an alcohol and drug rehab facility. Carol loved working in her yard, tending to tropical plants and flowers. She especially had a knack for growing orchids. Carol also enjoyed painting specialty signs, palm fronds, carvings, murals and so much more.

Carol enjoyed it all! She loved canoeing the Lakes of Maine with her granddaughters. She cherished diving and fishing at the Florida Keys. She was thrilled to explore for over 40 days, on a small boat, the isolated cays of Abacos in the Bahamas. Her favorite, was vacationing in a 90 foot tall tree house, deep in the jungle of Costa Rica- a childhood dream of hers.

Carol was an extraordinarily strong, vibrant, loving and kind woman. She was not afraid to keep trying until she seceded. Never a complaint- only to live life large. Whatever Carol tried, she accomplished the task with perfection and love. She crocheted blankets for prenatal babies which she donated to Knots of Love. Her life was filled with kindness toward others.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her loving husband Ernie; three children: Tamara, Nicholas and Lindsay; two granddaughters: Kaitlin and Abigail and her brother Bryan.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place later with family and friends.
