On October 24th, 2016, Carole McCormack Esch, 79, lost a courageous six-year battle with an incurable lung disease -- Mycobacterium. Born in Portsmouth, NH, Carole McCormack graduated from the Yale School of Nursing and practiced at Mass General in Boston. Carole was very proud of her six children and fourteen grandchildren, who are successful in a variety of professions including the law, professional sports, technology, construction, and teaching.

Carole was a founder of McCormack and Dodge, now part of Dun & Bradstreet, launched a ground-breaking cable television company, Channel 10 in Southern Maryland, founded a successful bank, and authored a popular book on the World's Best Small Hotels a project she loved researching. Carole was known in business for her fierce determination and fun-loving personality. She was a hostess, personal friend, and confidant to global leaders visiting her homes, The Bayhouse and Rio Chico. She served her Maryland and Jamaican communities on boards for colleges, banks, hospitals, and charities. She was an admired executive, but she will be most remembered as a caring friend.

Carole Esch is survived by husband Arthur Esch, Michael McCormack (Etsuko, Jimmy, Yuna), Katherine Querard (Misha, Alexander, Nicholas, Dominque, Tristan), Patrick McCormack (Patricia, Carlos, Alba), Johanna McCormack (Jackson), Christine Esch (Chris, Elle, Keira), and Valerie Danielewicz (Brian, Blake, Billy, Reagan). Carole shared especially close ties with her sister, MaryJo Chadwick (Cliff, MaryBeth, John); and sister-in-law, Cece Castle (Bob). Carole shared a special bond with her pastor, Carol Barron, of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Stuart.

Carole was an accomplished tennis player and golfer. She was a member of the Army-Navy CC in Virginia, the Yacht & Country Club of Stuart (YCC), and the Circle of Stones in Maryland. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, November 9th at 2 PM at St. Luke's with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions as a memorial would be appreciated in Carole's name to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5150 Railway Avenue, Stuart, Florida 34997.
