Carolyn Weitkamp, passed away February 23, 2019 at her home in Port St. Lucie.  Born on March 31, 1942 to Sarah Alice Gully Taylor and Bradford Preston Taylor in Fall River, Massachusetts, she had one older sister, Jane Alice Taylor Schmidt.

She is survived by her husband, Rickard (Dick) Weitkamp; a niece, Sarah (Sally) Ruth Watkins; a great niece, Shannon Watkins Rodgers; eight great nieces and nephews: Eliza, Kiah, Malachi, Isaac, Hanna, Tobias, Judah, and Zeke; as well as Dick's three children; James Weitkamp, Sandra Connors, and Nancy Weitkamp; six grandchildren; Ashley Bentayou, Jill Rich, Jodi Peruch, Clarissa Kirk, Erick Weitkamp and Jaime Vanacore; and 14 great grandchildren; Justin Bentayou, James Bentayou, Jack Bentayou, Grace Rich, Connor Rich, Derick Peruch, Toni Peruch, John Peruch, Chase Peruch, Connor Kirk, Carson Kirk, Jonna Marie Kirk, Dominick Vanacore, and Tori Vanicore.

Carolyn was raised in a loving Christian family in Arlington, Virginia. Her father was a civil engineer with
the Department of the Interior and her mother was an English and Physical Ed teacher before their
marriage.

Carolyn was introduced to music at age 4 when her cousin sat her down at the piano. She did a lot of
singing at a young age. She and her mother were always singing something. She sang in all the church
choirs, and in high school and college singing groups. At age 15, she took voice lessons through her
second year in college. Her mother and her voice teacher wanted her to study opera but since Junior
High School, she always wanted to be a dietitian and she pursued that goal.

Carolyn attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Virginia for 2 years, was married in 1962 and moved
to Riverside, California.   She completed her B.S Degree in Foods and Nutrition at Lama Linda
University in Lama Linda, California at the La Sierra Campus in Riverside.

Around this time, her husband received a Fulbright scholarship to study in Norway, and they lived in
Norway for 18 months in 1965-66. While there, she learned to speak Norwegian, knit the European way,
embroider and cross country ski. This experience was one of the highlights in her life. She still
corresponds with Norwegian friends she met there.

On returning from Norway, Carolyn completed a dietetic internship at Loma Linda University in Loma
Linda, California and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where lived for 21 years and pursued her career
as a Registered Clinical Dietitian. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for 18 years, the last 15 of those as
Head Clinical Dietitian, and administrative position. During her career, she developed the nutrition
protocol for post cardiac surgery rehab patients, created the Food Service Quality Assurance program,
served as Coordinator of the Phoenix Area Manual of Applied Nutrition committee, and was co-director
of an accredited American Dietetic Association's Dietetic Internship program. She served on the Boards
of the local, and then the state Dietetic Associations in Phoenix, serving as President of each, and
received the Arizona Dietetic Association Award of Merit in 1986.

In 1988, Carolyn met Dick and moved to Burns, Wyoming to his 160 acre ranch. They traveled to Hawaii,
Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Europe, and Norway, and took river boat cruises in France,
Holland and Germany. Carolyn loved living in Wyoming and the people, and the rural way of life, a very
new experience for a "city kid". She loved traveling in their RV, fishing, and hunting in the Rocky
Mountains of Wyoming, gardening and caring for the horses and cattle.

Dick and Carolyn moved to Port St. Lucie, FL in 1997 and bought their home in 1998. Carolyn enjoyed
her retirement in Florida. She began singing again with the Treasure Coast Community Singers. She was
a member from its inception in 2003, becoming involved with its administration as a member of the
board of directors since 2004. She was also in the board of directors of the Treasure Coast College of
Fine Arts and Assistant to the president of the college.

Carolyn was blessed in so many ways beginning with her loving Christian family, growing up with wonderful, caring, supportive parents. She was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to pursue her educational and professional goals in all phases of her life, to have had the opportunity to travel the US and other parts the world.   She had a wonderful loving, giving, and supportive husband in Dick who also gave her the loving family of her own that she didn't have herself, and she had so many wonderful, true friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2019 at North Stuart Baptist Church, 1950 NW Federal Hwy, Stuart, FL 34994.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn's name may be made to Treasure Coast Community Singers, P. O. Box 1798, Jensen Beach, FL 34958 or North Stuart Baptist Church.
