Obituary

Carrie Butler was born to Elmer Rich and Sylvia Berrian Rich on May 9, 1928 in Milton, Florida. Later, the family moved to Rock Bluff, Florida and then to Hobe Sound, Florida.

Carrie was employed by various Families on Jupiter Island (Walker's, Geddes', Brady's, to name a few).

Carrie attended Stuart Training School in Martin County and then went on to attend Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida, where she met and married Tommie Butler.

Carrie was well known in the community and loved by many. Her hobbies included Sewing, Cooking, caring for her orchids, and serving others.

She served on the Missionary Board at the Churches that she attended. After retirement, her health began to fail rapidly. When she became homebound she was always surrounded by her children and grandchildren whom she loved very much.

On July 18 th , she was rushed to Jupiter Medical Center, then to Salerno Bay Manor on July 25 th , then to Hospice on July 31 st . While at Hospice, the Lord in His infinite wisdom chose to call her home on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 8:25am.

Those that preceded her death: her parents, Elmer and Sylvia Rich; a step-father, Phillip Cook; her sister, Malassie Parks; her brother, Troy Rich; a husband, Tommie Butler; and a grandson, Micah Peoples.

She leaves to cherish her memories on sister, Ethel S. Trezevant; six sons; Thomas Butler; Dennis Curry; Wilmer Curry; Richard Curry; Steven Curry (Belinda); Fredrick Curry (Melanie); two daughters: Shelia Peoples (Ronnie); Ada Queen (Kevin). Eighteen (18) grand children and twenty five (25) great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM - 12:00PM on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 8224 SE Pettway Street, Hobe Sound, FL 33455 with a service to follow at 12:00PM.
