Obituary

Carroll D. Weatherly, Jr. 1st  Lt. USAF (Ret) "Dan" of Stuart, Florida, passed away September 1, 2024 at the age of 99. Dan was born on August 11, 1925, in Baltimore, Maryland to Colonel C.D. Weatherly and Eileen Connell Weatherly.  Dan grew up in Towson, Maryland.

A veteran of World War II, Dan enlisted in the United States Air Corp and graduated as a pilot in 1943. After serving in the War, the Weatherly family moved to Ft. Lauderdale and Dan entered the University of Florida.  He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduated in 1949.

Dan entered the banking business and moved to the Washington D.C. area.  He settled in McLean, VA. During his banking career, he was President of the Advertising Club of Washington D.C. and President of the Washington Financial Council.  After 25 years he retired from banking and moved to Houston, Texas, where he opened and operated a travel agency.  He retired a second time and divided his time between Virginia and Florida.  Dan loved his hunting and fishing in Florida.

Dan was passionate about Florida Gator football, politics and was a history buff and voracious reader.  He learned to play golf in his later years and those who know him best know the pride he had when shooting a "hole in one" at the age of 87.  Dan also loved gardening and nature.
