In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 2 ^nd , our father and grandfather, Chester P. Judd was called home to heaven to be reunited with his family members who have gone before.  Chet passed away peacefully in the care of Emerald Health in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Iva and June, a son, Tom and his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Valida Caron Judd.  He has also left behind family members who are sad to lose him but happy to have had him for such a long time.  Chet would have been 96 on October 27 ^th .  He leaves his daughter, Caron Judd Welch and his favorite son-in-law, Kenney.  He leaves 3 granddaughters, who were the light of his life, and 7 great-grandchildren.  His oldest granddaughter, Jennifer Welch Endres, Jen's wonderful husband, Justin and their three children, Jillian, Griffin, and Colin. He leaves , too, his second granddaughter, Shannon Welch Reeves and her wonderful husband, Jared and their two children Ella and Cameron.  Finally, he leaves his third granddaughter, Jamie Welch Melia and her wonderful husband, Ryan and their two children Jacob and Caela.  He leaves behind his dear companion and caretaker, Ruth Dunne.  Ruth has been a tremendous source of encouragement and happiness.  She has given selflessly in the care of Dad.  Ruth's two sons Kerry and Phil have also been so kind to Dad and we thank them for that.

There are many nieces and nephews who will miss Dad but none more so than Bob Corcoran, Judith Corcoran Bonini, Robin Corcoran Wilson, and Bud Albright and the Albright clan.

Dad, at the young age of 17, met the love of his life, on an army train heading to New Haven from Boston.  He wanted to enlist in the Navy and marry my Mom!  He needed his parents' permission to do both since he was so young.  His naval career found him on the USS Quincy which was sunk in the Solomon Islands.  He rarely spoke of his experiences but when he did, he amazed with the tales of the acts of bravery that he witnessed.  The war ended but fortunately the marriage lasted a very long time.

Chet was a kind and soft spoken man.  He had an incredible sense of humor and some of his jokes and sayings will live on forever.  He was a good golfer all his life.  At the age of 90 he was still able to kick his son-in-law's butt much to Kenney's enjoyment.  He was a lifelong dedicated fan of the Red Sox.

Chet and Val raised their family in Connecticut where he was a pressman at The Eastern Color Printing Co. until his retirement.  They retired to Cape Cod and lived in South Dennis and wintered on Hutchinson Island, Florida where they enjoyed the friendships of many people.  Audrey and Jim, Hazel and Carl, Faith and Lester and Kay (and Rod)… We thank you for your love and support of Dad.  Thank you, also to the wonderful caretakers at Emerald Healthcare and the angelic hospice nurses who showered all of us with love and support and peace.  If I've neglected to mention someone I apologize.

Dad will be sorely missed by so many but never forgotten.  There is peace in knowing that he and Mom are together again.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
