Chester Lenis Rowe of Okeechobee, Florida, also known as Captain Skid and Skid Rowe, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2018.

Chester was born on October 27, 1946 to Carl Rowe and Eleanor Asbury Rowe in Slab Fork, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; their four children: Jean Ellen Rowe, Chester (Amanda) Rowe, Jillian (Stephen) Hood, and Angela (Jon LeRoux) Rowe; four grandchildren: Brent Rowe, Cayley Rowe, Carson LeRoux, and Scarlet LeRoux; and his brother Jack (Donna) Rowe. He loved his family fiercely everyday of his life.

He was a lifelong, avid fisherman and lover of the outdoors. He could tell you all kinds of stories of skipping school and work to go to a great fishing spot.

Chester enlisted in the Air Force in 1965. He was in the 1st Strategic Air Command, 8th Air Force, 397th Bombardment Wing. During his eight years in the service he accrued: Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with oak leaf cluster, and Air Force Good Conduct Medal with oak leaf cluster.

While serving in the military he met his future wife, Barbara, and they were married shortly after on September 2, 1967. Last year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family on a beautiful summer day.

It was Chester's wishes to have services in his home state of West Virginia and in Maine where he was a beloved charter boat captain for more than 20 years.

The service in West Virginia will be Saturday June 9 at 10:00am at: Sandstone Falls - Lower Beach, River Road, Hinton, West Virginia.

The Service in Maine will be Saturday June 30 at 10:00 am at: Kennebec River Phippsburg Boat Access, Fiddler's Reach Road, Phippsburg, Maine.
