Clara Ruth "Johnnie" (Johnson) Hess, 93, of Lexington Park, Maryland passed away on April 23, 2019, with her son Bill by her side.

Mrs. Hess worked as a Registered Nurse for many years; she enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and needlework. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in St. Mary's County, California, Maryland.

Johnnie was born to Eugene Washington Johnson and Ruthie May Hoover on July 6, 1925, in Tarrant County, Texas

Survivors include Sons; Willis E. (Barbara) Hess of Johnson City, Tennessee, Steven E. (Gisele) Hess of Leonardtown, Maryland. Grandchildren include Derek Richert-Hess of NC, David Richert-Hess of TN, Zana Hess of MD and Noah Hess of MD. Other survivors include 3 great grandchildren in NC, 3 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, 50 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hess is preceded in death by her husband; Maynard Hess, parents; Eugene and Ruthie Johnson, 7 brothers, 2 sisters and her grandson, Ian S. Hess.

A memorial service will be held at Church of Christ in St. Mary's County, California, Maryland on May 5, 2019, at 5 pm.

The family request that in lieu of flowers a memorial donation in Johnnie's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Fund.
