Obituary

Col. Wilfred Charles (Bill) Hamann, 86, of Stuart, Florida passed away on January 27, 2025 at home.

Born in Chicago, Bill lived all over the United States and the world, including Kansas, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, New Mexico, Nebraska, the Philippines, and the Netherlands, where he was Air Attache' to the US Embassy. At five years old, Bill decided he wanted to fly, and he fulfilled that dream by becoming a US Air Force fighter pilot in 1959. He served in combat and peacetime, retiring from active duty as a full Colonel in 1988. Bill's faith life was extremely important to him, and he served in leadership roles in every community he lived.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 29 years, Ellen; his daughter, Bethann Vidmar (Bob); and his sons, John Hamann (Jane), David Hamann (Missy), Stephen Ball (Kristin), and David Ball (Sarah), and many grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene; his sister Elaine; and his parents, Frederick and Caroline.
