Obituary

Daniel James Delle Chiaie was a son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, friend to many. His successors consist of his mother, Florence Delle Chiaie and father, Albert Delle Chiaie. His two sisters, Amanda Voss and Meghan Delle Chiaie; a beautiful new nephew, Gavin Michael Voss. His devout grandmother Martha Scheuer and grandfather John Cameron. His friends and family he loved with all his heart. He will forever be watching over you.
Growing up, Daniel was really great at soccer. He had a nickname White Pele.' His father loved being his and his sister's coach. Soccer tournaments out of town throughout the years were a normal part of the Delle Chiaie's life. He even made Varsity at Needham Broughton High School his freshman year. Whether it be a road bike or mountain bike riding for miles and miles was one of his favorite past times throughout his twenties. He really loved riding on the trails in Wilmington, NC except when he rode through huge banana spiders' webs. Daniel would love everyone to remember to look out for bicyclists on the road.
His affinity for the zest of life and his unique continuous joy for everything and everyone was contagious. He was always the heart and energy of a great event whatever it may have been. Whether it had been a meal, sports game, concert, or just hanging out with his friends, he was always the heart and soul of whatever it may have been. "He was never accused of not being able to have a good time." He loved being outdoors, especially the ocean. He saw more beauty in nature than most anybody. He is our rainbow throughout this storm. His admiration alone is something for us all to aspire towards. He had such an extraordinary talent to be blinded by the bad and only be able to see the good. Let us all be like him in that way.
Danny wouldn't put up with anyone messing with his sisters. He had no tolerance for it. He wasn't scared of anyone, yet there was no malice in his heart. He also was behind you in any situation. He was the best brother you could ask for. He may have teased us until we were raging mad but he always made us laugh until it hurt. Just making eye contact with him would send you into an uncontrollable fit of laughter that would get you kicked out of church, class or any awkward situation. He would get you in so much trouble but then give you the shirt off of his back. He would do anything to make you laugh and feel better.
"As a sister, going out on a night on the town with Danny was never boring. No matter what we did, or where we were, we made the best of it. Whenever we ate, drank and laughed, we did it as though it was our last night on Earth. Sometimes, well most of the time, he would make me go sit a few seats down so he could chat up a pretty girl. He was definitely a ladies' man. I really don't know how he did it sometimes."
Daniel James, please watch over your friends and family and help us stay focused. You are our rainbow throughout this storm.
