Darla Kay Barnes, 62, of Jensen Beach, FL passed away April 9, 2016 at Martin Medical Center in Stuart.
Born March 2, 1954 in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of Alvin Edward and Shirley Maude Sherman. She moved to Jensen Beach in 1973, coming from NY. Darla met her husband, John J. Barnes the year after moving to the Treasure Coast and they were married at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart.
She retired as a server and had worked at Wahoo's for 11 years and most recently, Flanigan's for 8 years. Darla was considered a great employee by whomever she worked for and was loved by all her patrons and co-workers.
Darla loved to go boating, snorkeling and enjoyed lobster diving in the Keys. She loved being out in the boat and enjoying the water. The last 10 years she especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter.
She is survived by her love of 42 years, John J. Barnes; loving daughter, Tina Priest and son in law, Michael Priest of Stuart; cherished granddaughter, Kaylee; mother, Shirley Sherman of Jensen Beach; and brother, Edward Sherman of North Florida.
Darla was preceded in death by her father, Alvin E. Sherman.

The family will gather with friends for a Celebration of Darla's Life at The Dolphin Bar & Shrimp House (Banquet room) from 1- 5 pm Sunday May 1, 2016, located at 1401 NE Indian River Dr. Jensen Beach, FL 34957.
