Obituary

Darren Varley, a devoted father, skilled handyman, and lifelong New York Giants fan, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on May 13, 1965, Darren was a man who could fix anything, always ready with a tool in hand and his favorite saying: "We'll figure it out."

He took pride in his craftsmanship, whether it was plumbing, electrical work, or building something from the ground up. His garage was more than just a workspace—it was a testament to his dedication, filled with tools that had stories of their own. If something was broken, Darren didn't just repair it; he made it better.

Darren was many people's rock. No matter what the problem was or what time it was, if you called him, he'd tell you that you were an idiot—then he'd be right there to help.

Above all, Darren was a loving father to his four children: Josh, Stephen, Ava, and Sydnee. He shared his skills, humor, and wisdom with each of them in his own way—teaching life lessons through hard work, problem-solving, and a little bit of trial and error. Whether it was tackling home projects, figuring out how to fix something on the fly, or simply enjoying the ups and downs of life together, Darren made sure his kids knew they could handle anything, just like he did.

Darren found joy in attending his boys' sporting events. From football to baseball, you could always count on his face being somewhere in the stands, cheering you on.

He also loved being out on the water, taking the boat out whenever he could, enjoying the peace of the open water and the freedom it gave him. Those were the moments where he could truly relax, surrounded by the people he loved.

Darren adored his grandkids and took pride in knowing his legacy would continue through them. Though he didn't get the chance to meet some of them, he always spoke of how much he wished he could.

He deeply loved his parents, Melvin and Patricia Varley, who shaped the man he became. Their guidance, love, and support were always a foundation in his life, and he carried their lessons with him in everything he did.

He also had a deep love for his cat, Lamb, who was always by his side. She was more than just a pet—she was his companion, and the bond they shared was special.

Darren was also a beloved member of his neighborhood, where everyone looked out for each other. He valued the friendships he built over the years and appreciated the kindness and care of his street neighbors, who always made sure he was taken care of. In return, Darren was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh with those around him.

Darren's legacy is one of resilience, hard work, and love—qualities that will live on in his family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit remains in every project completed, every game watched, and every challenge met with the determination to "figure it out."

As per his wishes, Darren will be cremated, and his family will honor his memory in a way that reflects his life and spirit. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Darren's memory by picking up a tool, fixing something, and passing on the knowledge—just as he always did.
