David Stuart Cardno, 67, of Stuart, Florida, passed away last Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House with his family by his side.

David was born and raised in Stonehaven, Scotland with his older brother Hamish. As a young boy, he enjoyed playing Football (Soccer), swimming at the local pool, and lifeguarding.

David received a Bachelors in International Business from Aberdeen University and then went on to receive a Masters in Business and French. He spent most of his young career traveling around the world. David spent time in France teaching English, where he developed a taste for good Red Wine and cheese. He then went on to work in International Marketing and traveled to places such as Saudi Arabia, Thailand, India, Uganda, Zambia, Switzerland, and the Philippines just to name a few.

David first met his wife Sandra at a dance in Banchory, 15 miles over the hill from Stonehaven. They dated while David attended university in Aberdeen and Sandra attended nursing school. They then parted ways, David headed east while Sandra went west. They kept in touch throughout the years but it wasn't until 1986, when they reunited at Sandra's brother's wedding and a week later were engaged. David and Sandra then married in 1987 in Banchory, and moved back to the States to start a family. They have two kids, Jennifer and Andrew, who they raised in sunny Stuart, Florida, with their godmother, Auntie Lorna Sinclair.

In 2000, David established the Father and Child Resource Center as part of the Martin County Healthy Start Coalition. For 15 years, he worked to promote responsible fatherhood in the community and espoused the virtues of a two parent household. He worked tirelessly to encourage fathers to be active and present in all phases of their children's lives. David organized and participated in many community programs, such as weekly law forums, a class in the county jail to help fathers keep in touch with their kids, child birth education and family soccer games in Indiantown.

David was full of life, laughter and love. He saw the world with open eyes and an open heart. He had a passion for helping others and empowering fathers. He found joy in soccer, playing Jeopardy, cooking and of course food! Most importantly though, he loved spending time with his family, his beloved wife, Sandra, his daughter Jennifer, his son Andrew, and his dog Lady Jane. Whether it was traveling all over the state for soccer games cheering on his children, helping the Sandra out in the garden, or taking Lady Jane for walks in the park, his Family always came first.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 S.E Monterey Road, Stuart, Florida on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 am, followed then by a reception.
