IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Edward
King Sr.
July 17, 1937 – October 27, 2024
David Edward King Sr., 87, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Oct. 27, 2024. A dedicated husband to America King, with whom he shared a loving partnership for the past 15 years, David was also a deeply caring father to his three children who loved him very much — David Jr., Deborah (Joe), and Cynthia (Joe) — and a proud grandfather to his grandson, Nathan. Additionally, he was treasured by America's children, who held him in high regard and affection — Jorge (Catherine), Ivonne (Jay), Abigail (Miguel), Meylin (Billy) and her grandchildren — Natali, Ivanna, Brunella and Emilia. David's presence was a cornerstone in the lives of all his loved ones.
Born on July 17, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, David (Dave) graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Throughout his diverse career, he held various positions including Cost Accountant, Financial Controller, Real Estate Broker, and Sales in Lancaster, PA. His final occupations were as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser, where he made substantial contributions to the growth and development of the Treasure Coast community, and as a Tax Accountant in Port St. Lucie, FL.
As a single father, Mr. King remained steadfast in keeping his family together. He ensured his children had a stable home and a solid primary education in a good school district. Dave provided many family adventures for his children, including amusement parks, camping, and cross-country road trips. His remarkable commitment was recognized when he was featured in a Lancaster Sunday newspaper, which highlighted his life as a single father raising three young children.
Dave had many personal interests. Having a lifelong passion for tennis, Dave enjoyed both playing and watching the sport. He and America shared a love for ballroom dancing, often bringing joy to those who watched them on the dance floor. He looked forward to spending time with friends and neighbors in the Spanish Lakes community, playing tennis, golf, chess and riding his bike through the park. Dave had an avid appreciation for books, movies and music, especially classical music. He also pursued an interest in flying, obtaining a pilot's license. In his later years, he was affectionately known as "King David" by America's family. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
A private memorial service will be held with his family and friends.
