IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores Balzac
Wiemann
April 8, 1925 – July 24, 2021
Dolores" Dee" Balzac Wiemann was reunited with her late husband George Wiemann III on Saturday, July 24, 2021. She died peacefully at the grand old age of 96 in the presence of her family at her home in Jensen Beach, Florida. She joins her daughter, Susan and brothers, John and Richard as well as her parents Constance and Ralph Balzac in heaven. She is survived by her children, George Wiemann IV (Andrea), Nancy McLaughlin and Connie Wiemann (Robert), 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph, sister, Mary and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dolores was born on April 8, 1925 in Rutherford, New Jersey at her grandparents' home. She graduated with honors from Scarsdale High School in 1942. She graduated from Middlebury College in 1946 where she met her future husband. They were married October 18 1947 and raised a family of Baby Boomers.
Most knew Dolores for her artistic talents in embroidery and rug hooking. She would create designs inspired by the natural world, a story, a fabric pattern, a photograph or just whimsy. Her works ranged from the realistic to the abstract. Her creative expression and her thorough understanding of a variety of artistic media resulted in unique masterworks. Dolores's embroideries were exhibited in numerous shows including a juried show held at the 1976 National Biennial Exhibition of the Embroiders Guild of America held in Washington, DC. She served as secretary of the Long Island Chapter of the Embroiders guild of America and was a member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists, Gator Chapter.
As per her wishes, Dolores will be cremated and eventually interred at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY in the spring when the dogwoods are in bloom. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to her favorite charity, House of Hope ( hohmartin.org ).
