Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Beloved Husband, Son, Father and Brother, Domenico "Mimmo" DiFede.  Mimmo transitioned surrounded by his loving family at home on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

Mimmo was born February 18, 1960 in Palermo, Sicily, to parents Angelina and Matteo DiFede (deceased 2001).  He lived a life surrounded by extended family in the Corso dei Mille Roccella neighborhood, where everyone was a cugino or cugina, a life enriched by our Catholic faith and family values.

In Palermo, Mimmo met the love of his life, Rosalia, at age 15. They married in October 1980 and celebrated their 40 th wedding anniversary this year.  Mimmo and Rosalia were avid travelers and enjoyed many voyages through Europe, visiting family in all areas of Italy, and cruise vacations.

Mimmo and Rosalia established many restaurants during the course of their marriage, both in New Jersey and Florida, and they currently operate La Forchetta in Stuart, Florida.  Mimmo and Rosalia employed hundreds of staff and many fond memories were made as they treated everyone as family.

Mimmo often volunteered his time at the Palm City Nursing Home, just sitting and talking with the residents as well as other local organizations which are too numerous to count. Mimmo was an avid hunter and also enjoyed many other outdoor activities.

Mimmo is survived by his wife, Rosalia DiFede, and his children Ritamaria and Alfio Trovato, Francesca and GianLuca DiFede and Matthew DiFede; his grandchildren Luca DiFede, Alexa DiFede and Nicolas Trovato; his mother, Angela Vasto; his brothers and sisters Giuseppe and Joan (Behnke) DiFede, Alessandro and Catherine (Sciacca) DiFede, Patrizia and Roberto Gualario; and Concetta DiFede Sanfratello; and leaves behind his brother-in-law Giovanni and Angela Sanfratello; and many more family members.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 11th at 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 12 th at 10:00am at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church, 2100 SE Cove Road, Stuart.

The funeral procession will begin immediately after the Mass from Saint Andrew's Catholic Church making a brief stop at La Forchetta Restaurant.  Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 2001 SW Murphy Rd, Palm City, Florida.

Due to ongoing pandemic restrictions, in lieu of flowers the family kindly requests, contributions as a memorial may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate
