Donald (Don) Cotcher, 92 years old, of Hobe Sound, Florida, formerly of White Lake, Michigan, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Sheridan at Hobe Sound, Florida. He had been enjoying his life at the Sheridan since August 2019.
A memorial service is being held at the VA Great Lakes National Cemetery, in Holly, Michigan in early October 2020.
Don was born on October 3, 1927, in Bad Axe, Michigan, the son of Neil and Willow (Terwilliger) Cotcher. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944, during World War II and served through 1946.
Don was married to Beverly (June) Becker on March 19, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan. In the winter of 1977, they began their residency in Florida to escape the cold winters. They made a permanent move to Hobe Sound, Florida in 1997. They enjoyed their time golfing, traveling and enjoying their family and many friends. They were happily married for 65 years.
He is survived by his children, James (Sandy) Cotcher of Long Beach, CA and Keith Cotcher of White Lake, MI; four grandchildren, Jason, Jaimee, Johnathan and Hayden Cotcher; three great-grandchildren, Mathew, Jason Jr (JJ) and Chloe; and one great-granddaughter, Alina, and his sister Connie Compton of Punta Gorda, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, June, on January 5, 2015; and his sister, Phyllis Cotcher-Spaide.
Don was always a gentleman. He was kind and thoughtful, with a happy-go-lucky attitude. He enjoyed his family and friends. He loved to enjoy life to the fullest and partied with the best of them! He always enjoyed helping others, no matter what the size of the task.
We will miss him dearly!!!
