DDonald F. Greist, age 72 of Sewalls Point, FL passed away June 28, 2013 at home. Don was born September 1, 1940 in Redding, CT, son of the late E. Harold and Evelyn (Bretz) Greist. Don attended the Merchant Marine Academy in New York before transferring to the University of Florida where he graduated from the school of Architecture. He had a long and successful career, working for many years in Borrego Springs, CA, where he established his own firm with projects ranging from houses to country clubs. Some of his projects also included a boutique resort and a Girl's Scout camp. Don moved to Sewalls Point, FL in 1997 and worked for Peacock and Lewis in Jupiter, FL for 6 years. After retiring from there, he continued to work on his own projects until 2012. When not working, Don's passions were down hill skiing and boating. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Janice (King) Greist of Sewalls Point, FL; his children, Catherine (Jon) Akers of Cleveland, OH and Mathew Greist of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Abigail, Amanda and Avin Akers; his brothers, Lew Greist of West Grove, PA and Gordon Greist of Mansfield, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, E. Harold Greist, Jr. and a sister, Patricia Brady. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service was held at the family home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (865 SE Monterey Commons Blvd; tuart, Florida 34996).
