Obituary

Dorothy North Miller, born May 4, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away October 21, 2019 in Stuart, Florida after a long illness.

She first came to Florida in 1925, and has been a "Floridian" ever since.  Raised in Wyoming, Ohio, she attended the University of Cincinnati, where she was a "Tri-Delt" (75 years), and received a degree on Interior Design.

She was married in 1941.  While her husband was in the Pacific aboard a destroyer, she lived part time in Daytona Beach, where she rolled bandages and helped with the war effort.  In 1951, she moved to Florida permanently.  While living in Daytona Beach, she opened her own Interior Design firm, which she ran for decades.  Always independent, in the '60's she had herself declared a "free dealer", so she could buy real estate in her name only, without her husband's involvement.  Later, she moved to South Florida, where she worked with Schreiber Foods as both designer and office manager.  While in Ft. Lauderdale she became active in ballroom dancing, in which she competed regionally.  She also ran the office of a large dance studio, run by her friend Johnny Grant.  She spoke fluent French, and loved to travel to Europe, especially Paris.

In 1995 she retired to Stuart, where she was active in Panhellenic, the DAR, various bridge clubs and historic preservation activities.

She is survived by her son Bill Frondorf, his wife Bonnie, and her granddaughter Natalie Frondorf, to whom the dance gene successfully passed.

There will be no public service.  Her ashes will be placed in a Rookwood Pottery urn of her own choosing, and she will be interred in the family plot in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, where she will spend eternity with her beloved father, Dr. Emerson A. North.
