Dorothy M. Wheelock, 92 of Stuart, Florida and formerly of Oceanport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Fort Pierce, Florida, on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

Born in Newark, New Jersey she was the daughter of the late Edward and Arminda Murray, and the wife of the late Bill Cade and Ralph Wheelock. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Murray.

She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel in Newark, graduating High School in 1942. She spent two years at Bell Telephone as an Addressograph and Graphotype Operator. She also worked part time as an Arthur Murray dance instructor.

She then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 4/19/1944 and went to Boot Camp at Camp Lejeune. She graduated from the Chicago School of Aviation Instruments and was stationed at Marine Corp Air Station ABG2 in EI Toro, California. She married a Marine named Bill Cade and was discharged in 1945 when World War II ended. A daughter, Candace Cade was born on April 19, 1946, exactly two years after she enlisted.

Dorothy worked at the Monmouth Memorial Hospital, now Monmouth Medical Center, an Affiliate of Barnabas Health in Long Branch, New Jersey. She worked in the Admitting Office during the Polio Epidemic. She then worked at EAT in West Long Branch New Jersey and worked her way up to Secretary of the Vice President where she retired after sixteen years to marry her long time companion, Ralph Wheelock.

She moved to Stuart in 1977 to be the caretaker for her beloved parents and husband.

It was then that she became an Avid member of the Treasure Coast Stroke Club. Arranging meetings, dinners, picnics, and picking up other members that couldn't get places. She became an Angel to all. She loved gardening, reading, art, music, theater and dining out with friends of the stroke club every Friday night for many years which she would make all the arrangements and make sure everyone had a ride. She also was an excellent cook in her day.

She is survived by her daughter Candace "Candy" McGeddy and son-in-law Bill of Oceanport, New Jersey; two grandson, Billy McGeddy and his Fiance Michelle Fondo of Hollywood, Florida, and Michael McGeddy and his wife, Mary; and great-grandson, Michael J. McGeddy "M.J", all of Oceanport.

She is also survived two step-sons, Donald Wheelock and his wife, Anne of Massachusetts, and David Wheelock of New York; two step-granddaughters, Ingrid Wheelock and her husband, Dr. Michael Chen of Washington state, and Sarah Wheelock of Louisiana; one step-grandson, Ben Wheelock and his wife, Michelle of Pennsylvania; and three step-great-grandsons Daniel Wheelock of Washington State, and Charles and Phineas Wheelock of Louisiana.

There will be no services at her request.
