Douglas McArthur Daugherty, 71, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida died Monday, April 14, 2014 at his daughter's home in Port Saint Lucie.
Born in Grundy, Virginia, he had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie, for 15 years, coming from his birthplace.
A coal miner by heart, he was a man of many trades.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Peggy P. Daugherty, of Port Saint Lucie; 4 sons, Douglas Daugherty, Jr., of Port Saint Lucie, Kevin Daugherty, of Grundy, Paul Daugherty, of Bristol, Virginia, and Arnold Daugherty, of Port Saint Lucie; 2 daughters, Regina Rispoli, and Paula Daugherty, both of Port Saint Lucie; 1 brother, Rick Daugherty, of Merrieville, Indiana; 4 sisters, Lilly Elswick, of Warren, Michigan, Janice Daugherty, of Bristol, Tennessee, Libb Yates, of Coeburn, Virginia, and Shirley Bingham, of Clinton Township, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a host of special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edith Daugherty, and brothers, Arnold, Elsie, Burl, and George.
A Visitation will be held, Thursday, April 17th from Noon until 2:00pm in the Chapel of the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, Florida, where a Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm.
