Eduardo Juan Ferreiro of Palm City, FL, formally of Pearl River, N.Y., passed away peacefully on

December 27, 2019. Ed was born in Gurabo, Puerto Rico on July 31, 1924. Both of his parents

died before his second birthday. Therefore, much of his early life was spent in an orphanage.

He shared stories about the challenges he faced given his difficult circumstances. As a young boy,

often, he would volunteer to wash the dishes in the orphanage kitchen in order to scrape the

burnt rice from the bottom of the pots and pans for some extra food to eat.

Eduardo was a combat veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines. Early

in the war, merchant shipping was perhaps the most vulnerable target for enemy submarines.

The German Navy fully understood the impact of the U.S. logistical support for the European war effort.

After the war, Ed settled in New York City and opened his own deli\bodega in lower Manhattan.

He married Elizabeth Garcia, the mother of his two daughters. Later, Ed was employed by the

Rheingold Corporation and absorbed the skills and nuances of the retail beer business.

In 1977, he opened Westminster Beverages, a wholesale and retail beer business on 125th

and Broadway. Because of his untiring effort, Westminster grew into one of the largest beverage

distributorships in the city. Madison Square Garden was among his major accounts.

Ed originally retired in New Jersey, wintered in El Combate Beach, P.R. and later moved to Palm City, FL.

Grandpa Eddie leaves behind a wonderful family, two married daughters, Roxana Ferreiro, her

husband Jack O'Donnell, and their daughter Jacquelyn Ferreiro O'Donnell, Dora (Ferreiro) Braun

and her husband Tom Braun and their children Mary Elizabeth (Braun) Geary, her husband Daniel Geary,

Ed's great granddaughter, Lucrezia Geary, Phillip Braun, Samuel Braun and Joseph Braun.

He will be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. after a private Mass with

his loving family.

An outstanding man and a remarkable life.
